Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
1. Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
Publication in EJESH: Journal of Islamic Economic and Social represents an essential contribution to the development of scholarly knowledge in Islamic economics and social studies. The quality of published articles reflects the integrity of authors, editors, reviewers, and the institutions supporting them. Therefore, all parties involved—authors, editorial board, reviewers, and publishers—are expected to adhere to ethical standards in every stage of the publication process, in accordance with COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

2. Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate and objective account of their research. Data and results should be represented truthfully, and manuscripts must contain sufficient detail to allow replication. Misleading or falsified statements constitute unethical behavior.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works. Any use of others’ work or words must be appropriately cited. All forms of plagiarism—including self-plagiarism—are strictly prohibited. EJESH uses plagiarism detection software (Turnitin) to verify originality.
Multiple or Redundant Publication
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously, or publishing substantially similar content in multiple outlets, is unethical and unacceptable.
Authorship
Authorship should reflect only those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All co-authors must approve the final version before submission.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of other works must always be given. Private information obtained through correspondence or confidential processes must not be used without written permission.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work’s interpretation.
Fundamental Errors
When an author discovers a significant error in a published article, they must promptly inform the editor to correct or retract the paper.

3, Duties of Editors
Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which articles will be published based on their academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope. Decisions must not be influenced by the author’s background, race, gender, or political or religious beliefs.
Fair Play
Manuscripts are evaluated solely on intellectual content.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished material disclosed in a manuscript for personal research without the author’s consent. Editors must recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.

4. Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, and personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that the authors have not cited.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should decline participation if they have conflicts of interest with the authors or institutions related to the manuscript.

5. Publisher’s Statement
EJESH: Journal of Islamic Economic and Social ensures that commercial interests (such as sponsorships or advertising) do not influence editorial decisions. The publisher assists communication between editors and other journals when necessary to maintain publication integrity.

6. Plagiarism Screening and Reference Management
All manuscripts submitted to EJESH are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin prior to the review process. Authors are encouraged to manage citations using Mendeley or similar reference management tools, following the APA 7th Edition style.
